Student of the week: Ben Parker
Her teachers combined their efforts to describe Fitzgerald’s characteristics. They described her as dedicated, respectful, a natural writer, a knowledge seeker and a positive role model to all.
Fitzgerald has participated in soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country running and cross country skiing. She has run the second leg of the Equinox Marathon twice, and her teachers are glad to have her on their team at school.
Each year the BP (Alaska) Teachers of Excellence program recognizes the outstanding efforts of educators. Monday, January 30, 2012, all schools and School District services will operate on a regular schedule.
As a first-prize winner, the PSA will air on statewide television on Sunday, February 5, during the Super Bowl pre-show and during the season premiere of The Voice (which follows the Super Bowl). The video will also be shown at various times throughout the month of February and the student team will receive three iPad(s) and $1000 for the NPHS video production program.
For the contest, NPHS students created a public service announcement (PSA) that educated the public on ways to improve energy efficiency and conservation.
